SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University junior Katie Edwards was selected with All-West Coast Conference second-team honors Monday, announced the conference office. Edwards earned the merit for efforts in singles play for the Bulldogs women's tennis team.
An honorable mention selection a year ago, Edwards picked up her first second-team accolade of her career. The junior tallied 16 wins this year including an impressive 12 during the spring dual season. Edwards primarily played as the No. 2 in the Zags lineup and she held an 8-3 record at that spot. Her five WCC wins are a team-best. She is currently riding a three match winning streak including a win over BYU's Nicolette Tran.
The Zags finished the year with a 9-9 overall record and a 3-5 mark in league. The Bulldogs open the WCC Championships Wednesday as the seventh-seed. They will face the University of San Francisco at 3 p.m. in the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
