SPOKANE, Wash. -
ON TAP: The Gonzaga University women's rowing team is back in action this weekend after two weeks between races. The Bulldogs are set to participate in the San Diego Crew Classic hosted at Mission Bay in San Diego, Calif., Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6.
ABOUT THE SAN DIEGO CREW CLASSIC: From its modest beginnings nearly four decades ago, the San Diego Crew Classic has matured into the largest regatta in the world. The regatta provides a venue for high school junior programs, collegiate teams, masters' clubs, and even Olympic-level competition. The regatta has grown considerably since its opening three-hour event in 1973. Today, it is a two-day, nationally acclaimed regatta, consisting of close to 100 races with more than 4,000 athletes. The protected waters and green lawns of Mission Bay Park offer a perfect setting for this event.
LIVE STREAMING AVAILABILE: Thousands of spectators watch the races on the popular Jumbotron, and now, thousands and more can watch the races via a live streaming webcast. Fans not able to make the event in San Diego can watch online at http://www.crewclassic.org/photosvideo/live-videostreaming/. The cost for live-streaming for the two-day event is $10.

HEAD COACH GLENN PUTYRAE'S THOUGHTS ON THE SAN DIEGO CREW CLASSIC: "Racing at the San Diego Crew Classic is a great challenge for all our crews. Finding a way to perform in an environment full of distraction is our biggest challenge this weekend but it is also the area where we need the most improvement. It's one thing to go fast when no one is around - it is really exciting to go fast when lined up against some of the best crews in the country. Our goal is to go fast this weekend and see how our best stacks up. I think all of our crews are excited for the opportunity. It is also the first time we have had an alum entry in the event and we very excited to have that representation reflecting the history of the program."
