ROGERS, Ark. - Gonzaga University incoming freshman Will Brueckner continued his strong play this summer, finishing second in the KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior Open at the 6,905-yard, par 72 Lost Springs Golf & Athletic Club.
Brueckner, of Walnut Creek, Calf., shot 72-69-72 for a 54-hole score of 3-under par 213, six shots behind winner Kyler Tate of Winter Garden, Fla., who finished a tournament record 9-under par 207. Brueckner had advanced to the match play quarterfinals of the 103rd California State Amateur Championship last week.
His opening-round 72 left him tied for seventh, but his 69 moved him into a tie for second five shots off the lead heading into the final round. He played the front nine in 3-over par and the back nine in 3-under par for his closing round par 72.
