
Fahy, Walsh Qualify For U.S. Amateur Golf Championship

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University men's golfers Sean Walsh and James Fahy have qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship Aug. 11-17 at the Atlanta Athletic Club (Highlands Course) in Johns Creek, Ga.
Walsh, a junior-to-be from Keller, Texas, qualified at Tangleridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie, Texas, with a 36-hole score of 134 to finish second for one of the three qualifying spots. Fahy, a senior-to-be from Vancouver, British Columbia, won a four-hole, sudden-death playoff against Tyler Matthews of Bellevue, Wash., as the two tied for the third and final spot at 142. The playoff started on the first hole and Fahy went par, par, birdie, birdie at Tumble Creek Club in Roslyn, Wash.
Walsh became the first Bulldog player to qualify for the U.S. Amateur last year, losing in the first round of match play.
