ABOUT THE MEET:
- The annual meet, hosted by Lewis-Clark State College will be at Community Park in the Lewiston Orchards.
- This year's anticipated field is Lewis-Clark State, Washington State, Univ. of Idaho, Univ. of Calgary, Univ. of Montana, Gonzaga, Eastern Washington Univ., Spokane Falls, College of Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Oregon Tech, Northwest Christian.
COURSE INFORMATION:
- The finish is approximately 350 meters from the start. The course itself is 100 percent dirt or grass.
- It is a highly visible course with a start finish area that adds up to 1000 meters with a 2k loop that will be done twice for 5000m race and done three times with a 1000m loop at the start for the men's 8k.
- There is very little shade on the course, which will make for dryer conditions.
REACHING NEW HEIGHTS:
- The Gonzaga women received its highest regional ranking ever when it was positioned seventh in the most recent USTFCCCA West ranking.
- The Zag men rose to 11th in the latest poll.
- After stellar performances against elite competition at the UW Invitational, both Bulldog programs moved up two spots in their rankings.
- The Zags entered the race ninth in the West Region and finished sixth in the second annual invitational on the Jefferson Golf Course.
- GU pulled off an upset finishing ahead of UCLA, which was sixth.
HELLO THERE TOP 20:
- The Gonzaga men had eight new entries into their program's all-time 8,000-meter top-20 list after the Washington Invitational.
- Troy Fraley was seven seconds off of the school record with a time of 23:39. Kyle Branch and Matthew Crichlow also ran top-five times.
- Overall, the GU men had 11 new 8K PR's at the UW Invitational.
- On the women's side, Jessica Mildes and Jordan Thurston ran the second and fourth fastest 6,000-meter times in program history.
READY FOR THE SPOTLIGHT:
- Gonzaga will help host the WCC Championships on Oct. 31, at Plantes Ferry Park in Spokane Valley.
- This year's WCC Championships will be only the second time in the league's history that the event will be run outside of California. The 2012 championships were in Portland.
- Admission is free to the event for the general public.
