ABOUT THE MEET:
- The annual meet is named after the former head men's and women's cross country and distance coach.
- The West Coast Conference will use the meet as a preview for this year's conference championships.
- Along with several programs from around the region, Gonzaga will face other WCC programs; the Portland and Pacific women's teams, and the BYU women and men.
- The meet will once again be run by the Spokane Sports Commission.
COURSE INFORMATION:
- The races will be held at Plantes Ferry Park in Spokane Valley.
- The course has previously served as the site for national races including the 2011 & 2013 NCAA DII Cross Country West Regionals and National Championships.
- The course is about 90 percent grass (short) with some dirt trail, which allows for several vantage points for spectators during the race.
WELCOME TO THE TOP 10:
- A trio of Bulldogs entered their respective top 10s following their performances at the Bill Dellinger Invitational.
- Jordan Thurston rose from ninth to sixth on the women's 6,000-meter list with a time of 20:55.0. Her previous personal record was 21:29.0.
- Julie Henling raced into the top 10 with a time of 21:21.6. Her time is the eighth-fastest in program history.
- Matthew Crichlow moved from 20th to 10th on the GU all-time 8K list with a time of 24:34.3.
AMONG THE BEST IN THE WEST:
- After successful showings at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, the Gonzaga women and men appeared in the new USTFCCCA West Region rankings Monday.
- There was not a lot of movement in the new polls since the preseason rankings were released on Sept. 2.
- The top 15 teams in the women's poll remained the same, while one through nine in the men's poll was identical.
- One change in the men's poll was the GU men switching from No. 10 to 11. They changed places with previous 11th-ranked Cal Poly.
- The Zag women remained at No. 10.
READY FOR THE SPOTLIGHT:
- Gonzaga will host a pair of meets this year, the WCC Preview/Erik Anderson Invitational (Sept. 19) and the WCC Championships (Oct. 31).
- Both races will be run at Plantes Ferry Park in Spokane Valley.
- This year's WCC Championships will be only the second time in the league's history that the event will be run outside of California. The 2012 championships was in Portland.
- Admission is free to both events for the general public.
