
Gonzaga Cross Country Programs Open at No. 10

NEW ORLEANS -- The Gonzaga women's and men's cross country programs were both ranked 10th in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) West Region preseason poll.
The Zag men are slated right where they left off in the region last season, while the GU women open 10th after finishing 16th in 2014.
The Gonzaga men also opened 10th last season in the region preseason poll, while the women were 14th. The Bulldog men climbed to seventh last season on Oct. 6, but this is the highest the women have been ranked in the poll in the past five years. The women were ranked 11th on Sept. 17, 2012.
Stanford's women topped the region after finishing third last season. Defending champion, Oregon, was second. The men's poll is a mirror image, with Stanford edging the defending champion, Oregon.
The Portland men were slated seventh, and its women are ninth. BYU's men and women are both third in the Mountain Region.
The Bulldogs opened their season yesterday at the Clash of the Inland Northwest. GU travels to Eugene, Ore., for the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Sept. 11.
