Pat Lesser Harbottle Day 1 Results
LAKEWOOD, Wash.--The Gonzaga University women's golf team returned to stroke play Monday, playing the first two rounds of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational held at Tacoma Country & Golf Club.
Senior Ciera Min continued the blazing start to her senior season, ending day one in a tie for fourth place. She counted 145 strokes (+1) on the day, shooting 75 (+3) during the morning round but countering with a 70 (-2) during the afternoon. The round below par was her fourth already in 2016, and she's on pace for her fourth consecutive Top 5 finish after winning the WCC Championships last April and taking second and fourth during this year's first two tournaments.
Next up, Bianca Pagdanganan is tied for 31st after taking 155 strokes (+11) Monday. The sophomore shot 76 (+4) during the first 18 holes, parring 14 and taking four bogeys. In the second round, she shot 79 (+7), mixing in three birdies and five pars.
Two Zags are tied two strokes back as Jena Gao and Nina Novilla each counted 157 strokes to open the competition. Gao carded rounds of 78 (+6) and 79 (+7), but her highlight came on the par-3 sixth, which she aced using a six iron during the second round. It's her third-ever hole-in-one but first as a Bulldog.
Novilla, meanwhile, turned in scorecards of 77 (+5) and 80 (+8) for the tally. Both she and Gao are tied for 45th.
Freshman Jessica Mangrobang sits one back of those two after cutting four strokes off her morning round total. She shot 77 (+5) during the afternoon loop and is tied for 53rd at 158 (+14).
Rounding out Gonzaga's participation on day one, Diana Araneta made her stroke play debut, shooting 163 (+19) on the day as an individual. Last week, she made her collegiate debut at the Zags' Gonzaga Match Play.
As a team, Gonzaga is in sixth place with a two-round total of 611 strokes (+35). Washington heads the team leaderboard with a score of 589 (+13), while Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg leads the individual race at 142 (-2).
The Zags will wrap up the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 11 with the final round. That will begin at 8:30 a.m., again at Tacoma Country & Golf Club.
