SPOKANE, Wash. - On Wednesday, October 19, the men's rowing team held their annual Row-A-Thon from 9 am to 3 pm at the Hemmingson Center.
The men set a goal of 500,000 meters with 34 rowers, three coaches, and 5 coxswains, and surpassed that mark by rowing 501,579 meters over the course of the event. The men's squad is aiming to raise $32,000 and will also be donating community service as a result of the money raised.
The Gonzaga community contributed greatly to this year's Row-A-Thon and rowed over 44,000 meters for the cause.
"It was great to do something on campus which was visible to the Gonzaga community," GU men's head coach Dan Gehn said. "Training at an off campus site, we don't get as much face to face exposure as we would like. I felt there was a nice response from everyone who stopped and rowed, asked questions, or cheered us on. A big thank you to all involved."
