WROW to Face Loaded Field at Lake Natoma Invite

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Gonzaga's 15th-ranked women's rowing team is one of seven top-20 teams in the field at the loaded Lake Natoma Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Sacramento, Calif.
The Zags will face off against No. 1 Brown, No. 2 Cal, No. 7 Stanford, No. 12 Wisconsin, No. 16 Iowa and No. 18 Notre Dame, as well as Sacramento State and LMU. It's familiar territory for GU that hit the water against a handful of ranked teams its last time out at the San Diego Crew Classic, and its also an opportunity to improve on its program-best No. 15 ranking.
"We are really excited to test our speed against the best in the nation," head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "We have made some adjustments since our last race, and we are looking forward to seeing how fast we can go. Based on how competitive all of these teams have been so far this year, the racing should awesome!"
The Zags will put four boats on the water with a pair of fours and a pair of eights. The Varsity 4 will kick off the day for GU at 9:10 a.m., followed by the Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 8 at 9:40 and 10:10 a.m. All three of those boats will face No. 7 Stanford and Sacramento State in their heats. The Second Varsity 4 will wrap the morning session at 10:30 a.m. against No. 1 Brown and No. 18 Notre Dame.
In the afternoon session, Gonzaga is flighted with No. 2 Cal and Loyola Marymount across the V4, V8 and 2V8 beginning at 3:50 p.m. The 2V4 will advance to either the Petite Final at 5:20 p.m. or the Grand Final at 5:30 p.m. to finish racing for the day.
On Sunday, Gonzaga's top three boats will be back on the water in heats against No. 12 Wisconsin, No. 16 Iowa and No. 18 Notre Dame beginning with the V4 at 8:30 a.m.
