NAPA, Calif.--The Gonzaga University women's golf squad began play at the Silverado Showdown Sunday with two Bulldogs in the Top 25 after round one of the tournament held at Napa's Silverado Resort.

Junior Ciera Min and freshman Bianca Pagdanganan are tied for 25th after the first round on Silverado's North Course. They played the 72-par, 6,206-yard loop at 74 (+2) Sunday, Min's second-best score of the spring season. She counted a birdie and six pars on both the front and back nine for the score. Pagdanganan, meanwhile, posted three birdies and 10 pars in her first 15 holes, but bogeys on the final three returned her to 2-over on the day and tied for 25th.

"Ciera was good all day and saw the best golf she has played all spring," said Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel. "Her competitive spirit is exactly how it needs to be. Bianca played solidly today too, but she lost some focus on the last three holes. She's shown herself that a great score is possible here."

Sophomore Dania Uy and freshman Jena Gao, meanwhile, are tied for 83rd after both shot 81 (+9). They both saw tough front nines, making the turn at 8-over-par 44, but they settled down to play the back in 37 (+1) with a birdie and six pars apiece. They're tied with four other players at 83rd and within four strokes of 23 more.

Rounding out the Zags' lineup, senior Raychelle Santos counted 96 strokes during the first round. She's in 93rd.

As a team, the Zags counted 310 strokes (+22) on the day and are in 16th place. They're within 10 strokes of nine squads at the loaded Silverado Showdown, as nine times competing in the tournament are among GolfStat's Top 50 rankings, and six more are between 51 and 76. No. 11 Stanford leads the tournament with a total of 286 (-2). Oregon's Cathleen Santoso tops the individual leaderboard at 67 (-5).

Gonzaga tees off on the second round of the three-round, three-day tournament on Monday, April 4, once again on Silverado Resort's North Course. Santos will be the first Bulldog on the course as she tees off the 10th tee at 9:15 a.m.
