Silverado Showdown Final Results
NAPA, Calif.-The Gonzaga University women's golf team climbed four spots up the leaderboard Tuesday, ending the Silverado Showdown in a tie for 13th.
Freshman Bianca Pagdanganan collected her fourth Top 10 finish of the year and third in her last four tournaments by tying for seventh with a three-day total of 218 (+2). She carded a final-round 74 (+2), mixing a birdie and 14 pars with three bogeys on the day. The Quezon City, Philippines, native has been hot for much of the spring, finishing among the Top 10 and within two strokes of par at three of her four spring tournaments. She entered the Silverado Showdown ranked No. 73 in the nation according to GolfWeek, and she's also among the top 100 in GolfStat's rankings as well.
Junior Ciera Min finished off a consistent Silverado Showdown with a final-round 75 (+3) after back-to-back days at 74. She tallied two birdies and five bogeys on the round over the par-72, 2,206-yard Silverado North Course. In all, she counted 223 strokes (+7), her lowest score in relation to par of the spring. She ends the regular season with back-to-back Top 30 finishes as she tied for 24th at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in March.
Posting the Bulldogs' best round of the day, freshman Jena Gao vaulted 22 spots up the leaderboard Tuesday with a 1-over 73. She carded a double-bogey on her second hole of the day, but after a few pars she played her final 11 holes at 1-under for the score, her best of the tournament and best of the spring season. Gao ended the Silverado Showdown in a tie for 63rd with four other players.
"Bianca had a great tournament," said Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel. "Top 7 in this tournament is a big deal. Ciera had her best tournament of the spring; she fought very hard today and scrambled hard to save strokes. Jena, meanwhile, definitely had one of her best rounds she has had for us. It's a hard course with tough pins, and she just played solidly from the first shot on."
Sophomore Dania Uy, meanwhile, shot 79 (+7) for the second day in a row, seeing a birdie and nine pars along the way. She moved up three spots to 84th, counting 239 strokes (+23) during the tournament. That 79 equals her lowest round at Silverado Resort.
Rounding out the GU lineup, senior Raychelle Santos saw her best round of the tournament with a score of 90 (+18). She finished the Showdown in 92nd place.
As a team, the Zags counted 301 strokes (+13) for the second day in a row, ending the tournament with 912 (+48). They climbed four spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for 13th with San Jose State. The Zags also beat out WCC foe San Francisco by six shots. Eleventh-ranked Stanford won the tournament with a three-day total of 865 (+1), while Oregon's Cathleen Santoso took medalist honors at 211 (-5).
"I'm happy with how we moved up four spots today," said Rickel. "Until we can get a good fourth score to help us, though, we aren't going to reach our potential."
With the conclusion of the Silverado Showdown, the Zags also wrap up their regular season. The next time Gonzaga takes a competition course, it'll be at the West Coast Conference Championships, held April 18-20 this year at Black Hawk Country Club in Danville, Calif.
