GONZAGA FACES REGIONAL FOES AT WAR IX:
- After splitting their squads between three locations last weekend, the Gonzaga women's men's track teams will have all of their student-athletes in one location, just a few miles from campus.
- The Zags will take on the some of the region's best at the ninth annual Northwest Scoring Clash, or Washington versus the Region (WAR VIII) at Spokane Falls Community College.
ABOUT THE MEET:
- The yearly event that continues to build momentum welcomes programs from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.A record number 20 programs competed at last year's event.
- The Community Colleges of Spokane, Central Washington, Northwest, Gonzaga, Saint Martin's, Seattle, Trinity, Washington State, Everett Community College, Whitman, and Whitworth will unite and score against Carroll College (Mont.), Eastern Oregon, Treasure Valley Community College (Ore.), Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), Northwest Nazarene (Idaho), University of Great Falls (Mont.), and Montana State Billings.
LAST YEAR AT THE MEET:
- In the men's 10k, Dillon Quintana ran the ninth fastest time in program history, finishing first at 30:53.44. Jack Pearce followed closely behind in second at 31:05.95. Max Kaderabek placed third with a time of 31:13.69.
- Gonzaga dominated the women's 1,500 meters, led by a first place finish by Maggie Jones at 4:38.01.
- Colin O'Neil won the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 15:14.99.
- Andy Phillips led three top-eight finishes for the Zags in the 800 meters. GU won three of the four 800m heats.
- In the women's 10,000 meters, Julie Henling placed second and also ran a personal record at 39:33.48.
- Zoe Urcadez placed second in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 17:59.31.
- Troy Fraley also had a second place finish in the men's 1,500 meters.
