ABOUT THE EVENT:
- Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 16-18.
- Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams.
- The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
- Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 27-June 1 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
- The University of Oregon is the host institution for the 2016 championships.
ABOUT THE COURSE:
- The North Course at the Gallery Golf Club is a par-72 that will be played at 7,258 yards.
- The course was designed by John Fought and British Open Champion and 2006 Ryder Cup Captain Tom Lehman, was ranked No. 1 in Southwest Arizona by Golf Digest and is acknowledged as one of Golfweek's Top 100 Modern Courses.
- The course hosted the 2014 PAC- 12 Men's Championship.
LAST YEAR'S NCAA REGIONALS:
- James Fahy's incredible four-year career on the Gonzaga men's golf team came to an end at the NCAA Bremerton Regional on the Olympic Course at the Gold Mountain Golf Club.
- Competing as the first men's golfer in program history to compete at an NCAA Championship event, Fahy finished the third and final round of the regional at four-over-par (76).
- His tournament total of 226 was 10-over, and tied him for 62nd on the 75-golfer leaderboard.
- He carded a 77 in the opening round and a 73 on Day 2.
- Fahy had 14 pars in the final round. He finished with 37 pars in the regional, four shy of the tournament-high.
WALSH IS NATIONAL RANKED:
- Sean Walsh is currently ranked 65th in the country in the Golfstat Head-to-Head Player Standings.
- The lone senior on the Zags' roster is rated 100th on the Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings.
WALSH NAMED WCC GOLFER OF THE MONTH:
- Sean Walsh was selected as the West Coast Conference Golfer of the Month for the month of February.
- On Feb. 21, Walsh won the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. He was seven-under-par in the 116-golfer field.
- Walsh opened the spring schedule with another top-20 finish. The lone senior on the GU men's team tied for 17th at the Prestige at PGA West to open the spring schedule. He shot even-par at the prestigious event.
