CORAL SPRINGS, Florida--By virtue of finishing in the Top 10 of the NCAA Regional held at Bryan, Texas, May 5-7, Gonzaga's Bianca Pagdanganan earned a spot on Bryan's All-Region team as announced Tuesday by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
The freshman had a stellar tournament in Bryan, becoming the first Gonzaga golfer to clinch a berth to the NCAA Championships. Pagdanganan tied for eighth with a 2-under-214 at Traditions Golf Club, tying for the fifth-lowest tournament score in program history. A native of Quezon City, Philippines, Pagdanganan was one of the tournament's leaders for the first 45 holes, ending day one with the lead and taking second place after round two. Her 36-hole score of 136 (-8) was the program's lowest by three strokes, and her first-round 67 (-5) was tied for Gonzaga women's golf's second-lowest round in relation to par.
The WGCA's All-Region teams are based on each NCAA Regional's top 10 finishers, including ties. This is Gonzaga's first All-Region honor.
Pagdanganan will begin the NCAA Championships this Friday, May 19. The four-round tournament will take place at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
