ABOUT THE MEET:
- The annual meet has been a season-opener for the Zags, Washington State, Idaho and Eastern Washington.
- Other teams that will be racing Lewis-Clark State, Whitman, Montana, and Whitworth.
- The meet rotates a host site each year around the Inland Northwest.
- Last year, Idaho's Kinsey Gomez (13:40.33) and Sam Atkin of LC State (17:35.17) took the individual titles.
COURSE INFORMATION:
- The races will be run on the University of Idaho Golf Course.
- The course will host the Big Sky Conference Championships later this season.
- The golf course is built on the Palouse, known for large, rolling hills. The start has a slight downhill that then
drops quickly into the loops. Loops are composed of undulating, rolling hills. The finish is an uphill climb.
AMONG THE BEST IN THE WEST:
- After successful finishes last season, the Gonzaga women and men appeared in the new USTFCCCA West
Region rankings Monday.
- The Zag women start the season at No. 8 in the region, while the men are 13th.
- The GU women ended last year at No. 6, and the men were 10th.
- The Oregon women and men top the regional polls.
NATIONAL RECOGINITION:
- The Gonzaga women open the season appearing in the national poll for the first time in program history.
- The Zags received three votes in the USTFCCCA national ranking Tuesday.
- The GU women placed 25th in their first-ever appearance in the national championships last season, and finished the year ranked 27th.
