SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga men's rowing team will kick off their spring season this Saturday when they host an Erg Dual against visiting Washington State.
The dual begins at 9 am with the first of three heats, with each being 2000 meters long. The second heat is at 9:15 with the final one at 9:30. There are three televisions at the front of the Harry A. Green Indoor Rowing Facility inside the McCarthey Athletic Center, and each will show the results.
At 9:45 am there will be a 500 meter coxswain race.
Once the results from the earlier heats are final, the rowers will be reorganized from the fastest time to the slowest time for each school, and divided into three finals for races of 1500 meters. The first finals will begin at 11:30 am, with the second at 11:45, and the final race at 12 pm.
Spectators are invited and encouraged to attend. They can enter through the ticket office at the McCarthey Athletic Center and follow the signs to the Harry A. Green Indoor Rowing Facility.
"We really appreciate WSU coming up," Gonzaga head coach Dan Gehn said. "We have been on Ergs the entire second semester and this is a great chance to see some other competition."
The Zags won in the varsity eight and second varsity eight races at the Head of the Spokane against the Cougars this past fall, the last time the teams met in competition.
