
Perrin Paces Zag Men to Win

MISSOULA, Mont. -- Jake Perrin's first place finish led the Gonzaga men's cross country team to the team title at the season-opening Clash of the Inland Northwest at the University of Montana Golf Course Friday.
Perrin's first-ever collegiate win came in a time of 18:35.56, edging out teammate Ben Hogan's 18:35.97 finish over the 6,000-meter course. The GU men placed six runners in the top-10, and 11 in the top-20. Dillon Quintana came in third at 18:40.32.
Jordan Thurston led the Zag women with a fifth place finish on the 4,000-meter course. Last year's Clash of the Inland Northwest champion crossed the line at 14:31.50 this season. Idaho's Andrea Condie placed first with a time of 14:11.60.
The GU women won two of their three duals, beating out Eastern Washington (25-33) and Montana (29-30), but falling to Idaho (19-42). Claire Manley came in 13th place at 14:52.31, while Jenna Rogers was 17th with a time of 15:04.54. Kelly Gilbert (15:16.72) and Amanda Kiefer (15:17.72) were 20th and 21st.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs cruised to three dual wins, beating EWU (17-46), Idaho (17-45) and Montana (15-50).
Kellen Manley (18:49.50) and Phillip Fishburn (18:50.30) rounded out the Gonzaga scoring in seventh and eighth, followed closely by Max Kaderabek (18:51.48) in ninth.
The Zags host Idaho in a dual meet at Mead High School on Sept. 16. The women's race is schedule for 10 a.m., followed by the men's race.
