
Men's Golf Opens Season in Scottsdale

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Gonzaga men's golf starts their 2017-18 schedule at the Maui Jim Invitational hosted by Georgia State Friday. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at the Desert Forest Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Par-72 course plays 7,203 yards and is a temporary home for the annual event. The tournament returns to the Mirabel Golf Club next season.
The Zags make their debut at the Maui Jim Invitational. The tournament welcomed a field of 16 teams last season and LSU finished 41-under par to win the team title. This year's field includes Georgia State, Arizona State, Nebraska, Rice, Georgia Tech, LSU, Kent State, Augusta, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Hawai'i, Kansas, Houston and Lipscomb.
Ben DuBois and David Ganz are the lone seniors on this year's eight-man GU roster. Ganz has the lowest returning scoring average. His average last season was 74.67 and his career average is 75.44. Nick Nolan had a stellar freshman season in 2016-17 with an average of 75.52.
This will be the first of three tournaments in Arizona for the Bulldogs. Gonzaga is sending Nolan, Tyler Munetake, Chris Mogg, DuBois and Ganz. Nolan tees off first at 8:45 a.m. Friday. Live scoring vis Golfstat will be available on GoZags.com.
