Women’s Rowing Wraps Up Fall Schedule

Zags raced against Oregon State and Washington State on Spokane River

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's rowing team closed their fall schedule in a regatta against Oregon State and Washington State Saturday.

The Zags entered a varsity eight, a second varsity eight, a novice eight and a second novice eight boat, along with a varsity four boat for races on the Spokane River.

Oregon State's and Washington State's varsity eight boats both finished the 5,000-meter course at 16:21. GU's varsity eight was close behind at 16:29.

The Cougars' second varsity eight had a time of 16:51, while OSU and the Bulldogs crossed the line at 17:05 and 17:26 respectively.

The Zags had the lone varsity four boat, and their time was 20:05. Gonzaga's Novice 8 had a time of 20:43 and the Second Novice 8 finished at 21:05.

"It was exciting to have two strong Pac-12 programs come race us," GU Head Coach Marisa Wortman said. "This was during a weekend when we can analyze results from across the country and really try compare where our speed is at as we move into the winter training portion of our season. It's been great to have the fall almost concluded and witness the transformation of some the changes that have been implemented."

The Zags open their spring schedule against Seattle Pacific in Seattle on Feb. 15-16. The event will take place on the L.W. Ship Canal.
