
Zags Get Spring Season Started At The Gold Rush

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Gonzaga Bulldogs completed their first two rounds of the spring on Monday at The Gold Rush at El Dorado Golf Course in Long Beach, Calif.
Francesca Santoni led the Zags with two solid rounds, 76 and 77, and sits in a tie for 36th at +9. Jessica Mangrobang is two shots back in a tie for 51st.
Mangrobang led the Zags in round one with a +3, 75. She rolled home birdies on the par-five fourth, par-four sixth, and par-four 11th. She only had two bogeys on the back to go +1. Santoni had two birdies on the front nine, the par-five fourth and par-four eighth to shoot a +4, 76. Diana Araneta had birdies on holes one, 10, and 11, and shot a +7, 79, going +2 on the back.
Santoni had birdies on the par-four second and par-four 15th in her second round, going +2 on the front.
The Zags are in 13th at +52 overall. Georgia leads the field at +15, one ahead of Colorado State. Ellen Secor of CSU is two strokes up in first at three-under par.
"Every tournament round is going to be a learning experience for us at this point," Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel said. "Francesca stayed focused on her play all day and was our most steady. Jessica had a good first round, but struggled on the greens all day."
