
MGLF Hosts Bandon Dunes Championship

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga men's golf team welcomes 13 programs to the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort for the ninth annual Bandon Dunes Championship beginning Sunday.
This year's field includes 14 teams of five players and 14 individuals taking on the Pacific Dunes Course. This is the third time the course will be used in the tournament, but first since 2014. The tournament rotates between the resort's four courses each year.
The 54-hole, three-round tournament will use the four best scores of each five-man team for team scoring. The par-71 Pacific Dunes Course plays 6,633 yards. This year's field includes Arizona State (22), Boise State, Clemson (15), Denver, Gonzaga, Idaho, Oregon (24), San Jose State, Santa Clara (51), Seattle, Southern Utah, Utah (74), UTEP (84) and Washington State; Golfstat relative rankings top-100 schools listed in parenthesis.
The Zags have a couple weeks off since their record-breaking performance at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Arizona. GU set a new program record 54-hole total of 836 (-28), finishing in a tie for fourth. David Ganz tied for 10th at 11-under. His 205 total broke the GU 54-hole record.
Last season, the Zags placed 15th at the Bandon Dunes Championship. Ryan Gaske led the Zags with a five-over (221) finish in a tie for 36th on the Old MacDonald Course. Oregon cruised to the team title, finishing at 28-under (836), 21 strokes ahead of second-place Texas Tech. Hannes Ronneblad of Texas Tech was two-under (70) the final round and finished the tournament at 10-under (206), taking medalist honors.
The first round begins at 8:10 a.m., with each group starting at Hole 1. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com with links to Golfstat.com.
