
Zags Post Solid Round In First Day At Meadow Club

FAIRFAX, Calif. - Early morning frost shortened a planned two-round day into a single round at the Meadow Club Women's Collegiate Invitational at the Meadow Club, and the Zags ended up in 13th at +18, their second-best single-round score of the year.
Jessica Mangrobang led GU with a +2 74, finishing tied for 23rd, as she birdied the par-four 18th and collected 14 pars on the day. Jena Gao shot a 76, is tied for 43rd, and had two birdies to go +2 on each side. Francesca Santoni was one shot back in a tie for 54th, she birdied the par-five 13th to go +1 on the back. Diana Araneta shot a 79, with a birdie on the par-four 12th to go +3 on the back.
Gao was +1 on the par four holes, top-15 in the field. Mangrobang's 14 pars ranked seventh in the first round. Washington leads the field at five-under par, eight shots better than San Francisco. Brittany Fan from Colorado holds a one shot lead over Julianna Alvarez of Washington.
