Women's Golf Heads South to FIU Pat Bradley Invite

THE TOURNAMENT:
- The three-day, 54-hole event begins Sunday at The Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club and tees off at 5:45 a.m. PT/8:45 a.m. ET.
- For the 42nd edition of the Pat Bradley Invitational, the field will feature host Florida International, Northern Arizona, James Madison, Missouri State, South Alabama, Texas Rio Grande Valley, FAU, FGCU, Eastern Michigan, UTEP, Jacksonville, Stetson, Georgia State, Cincinnati, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and McNeese State.
- Last season at the Pat Bradley Invite, then-freshman Quynn Duong finished second overall at two-under for the tournament, while GU placed sixth as a team at 18-over.
BACK-TO-BACK
- Gonzaga took home its second team tournament title in a row after winning the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational earlier this week.
- Sophomore Quynn Duong won the individual title (first of her career) by four shots at -7, and the team finished at -4 overall to win by 13 strokes.
- Senior Jessica Mangrobang finished in a tie for fifth at +1 and freshman Cassie Kim had her first-career top-10 at +3 overall.
- That win came just two weeks after Gonzaga defended its home turf, winning the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational at the the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course with a 54-hole team score of +16.
- Mangrobang and freshman Alyssa Nguyen led the way, finishing in a tie for third overall at +3 for the tournament.
- Sophomore Federica Torre posted a final-round 72 (+1) and finished with her first-career top-10 in a tie for eighth at +5 for the tournament.
RECORD BREAKERS
- In its win at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite, Gonzaga set numerous school records.
- Duong's -7 (209) and the team's -4 (860) were both 54-hole program records.
- Earlier in the tournament, GU set team 18-hole and 36-hole scoring records in both total score and score-to-par with a 10-under 278 in the second round which led to a -8 (568).
LEADING THE WAY
- In each of its wins, Gonzaga has been dominant, leading each field in scoring on Par-3s, Par-4s and Par-5s
- At the CDA Invite, Gonzaga led the field in Par-3 scoring at +4 and Par-5 scoring at -4. Individually, Mangrobang went -2 on the Par 3s and Torre went -7 on the Par 5s.
- At the PLH Invite, the Zags were again in the lead on all three par types, going +7 on the Par-3s, +13 on the Par-4s and -9 on the Par-5s.
PRESEASON ALL-WCC
- Quynn Duong's WCC Freshman of the Year campaign in 2018-19 helped earn her a spot on this year's Preseason All-WCC Team.
- GU was picked to finish fourth in the preseason poll, voted by the league's head coaches.
SOPHOMORE STARS
- Quynn Duong and Federica Torre put up great results in their opening seasons at GU in 2018-19.
- Duong had four Top-5 finishes (with three runner-ups) in nine career tournaments.
- Duong also placed sixth at the WCC Championships and led the team with a 72.85 stroke average.
- Torre, who joined the team for the spring semester, was second on the squad with a 74.27 stroke average and finished inside the Top 30 at each of her five tournaments.
SENIOR LEADER
- Senior Jessica Mangrobang had 10 of her 13 best rounds of the season during the spring, including a career-best 69 in the second round of the Red Rocks Invitational.
- Mangrobang was third on the team with a 75.41 stroke average and was inside the Top 20 each of the last four tournaments of the spring.
NEWCOMERS, NEW TALENT
- Gonzaga added freshman standouts Cassie Kim and Alyssa Nguyen to the mix for the season.
- Both players had fantastic junior and prep careers with Kim winning the Girls Junior Americas Cup and the PNW Junior PGA this summer.
- Nguyen comes in as a five-time district winner in the WJGA and three-time top-three finisher at the state tournament.
