SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga women's golf wrapped up its season on the final day of action at the West Coast Conference Championships, placing fourth at the event held over the last three days in Spokane, Wash.
Playing the Par-71 Manito Golf & Country Club, the Zags had two individuals finish in the Top 10, and the team shot a +47 to finish fourth overall. GU shot a 304 (+20) on the final and came in behind champion Pepperdine, BYU and San Francisco.
"I'm really proud of our young team being in the thick of it after two rounds," head coach Brad Rickel said. "Our inexperience showed a little bit today as we got off to a slow start and pressed too much. In the end, it was a great experience for our freshman to be in the final two groups on the final day of the conference championship. This will help us in the future."
Freshman Quynn Duong had the best individual finish for GU, placing sixth overall with her tournament total of +8 after a final round 76 (+5). Duong shot an even-par 36 on the back nine of the final round.
Junior Jessica Mangrobang played her way into the top 10 overall with a final-round 74 (+3) to finish +11 for the three-round tournament. She carded two birdies on the back nine and shot 35 coming in.
Freshman Federica Torre also completed her first league tournament and placed in a tie for 13th after a final-round 78. Junior Francesca Santoni was next for Gonzaga, shooting a 76 (+5) on Saturday and placing in a tie for 19th. Nina Novilla rounded out the GU squad with an 85 (+14) in the final round to place 22nd.
Gonzaga concluded its spring season of competition with the league tournament.
