The Texas-born Wernli only played tennis one year for Westlake and four years total, but she's accumulated plenty of accolades in that span — she is a Level 3 ITF doubles champion, USTA Level 2 finalist, two-time USTA Level 3 champion, and a Level 5 ITF Singles semi-finalist. She also was named Austin Tennis Academy MVP twice and player of the year once to go with a top-30 USTA ranking and top-600 ITF ranking. Wernli plans on majoring in Biology when she joins the Zags for the 2021-22 season.
"I love the people at Gonzaga, as well as the area of the country," she said. "I love that the school has a balance of academics and athletics that is a perfect fit for me."
