WTEN: Zags Compete in Day Two of the ITA Regional Championships

The Bulldogs have a doubles team competing tomorrow
STANFORD, Calif. – The Zags continued to play in the ITA Regional Championships in California Saturday. The Bulldogs started doubles play today while also competing in consolation matches in singles.
In the doubles bracket, Cate Broerman and Adrianna Sosnowska took on Gabriela Tevez and Stefanie Silva of SMC California, taking them down 6-2, moving onto the round of 32. Caroline Wernli and Frederikke Svarre took on Ella LeRoy and Klara Kosan Portland, falling 6-2. Finally, Tiegan Aitken and Kianna Oda took on Matilde Magrini and Ann-Cathrin Hummel of Fresno State, battling but falling 8-2.
In the round of 32, Broerman and Sosnowska took on Iva Zelic and Sally Pethybridge of Portland, downing them 6-2. They moved on to the round of 16 and will compete against Yana Gurevich and Arianna Stavropoulos of UC Davis tomorrow at 10 am.
In the consolation matches, Sosnowska won her match, 6-1, 2-6, 10-6. Aitken took on Portland, winning 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 and then defeated Santa Clara, 7-6(5), 6-3. Svarre defeated Seattle, 6-1, 6-1. Oda took down California, 6-1, 6-1. Wernli fell to Eastern Washington, 6-4.
