Ruel tied for 60th at six-over
PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's golf team remains in 18th place after the second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club hosted by the University of Wyoming. The Bulldogs were 19-over (307) in the second round, and are 35-over (611) entering the final round.
Matthew Ruel is tied for 60th place after finishing with a 77 (+5) in the second round. He is at six-over (150), following Round 2.
Backes is tied for 67th after shooting a 77 (+5) in the second round, contributing to his current total score of 151 (+7). The senior leads GU in pars for the tournament with 26.
Charlie Magruder is tied for 82nd at 10-over (154). Magruder had the lowest total for the Bulldogs in the second round after carding a 76 (+4).
Georgia Tech leads the tournament after the second round at five-under (571). Individually, AJ Ott of Colorado State tops the leaderboard at seven-under (137).
The Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate resumes for the third and final round tomorrow morning. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com.

"Saw some better golf to start the day from most of the guys. With six holes to go the wind really picked up with sustained winds of 25 mph and gusts over 30. We finished on the front nine and we lost 11 shots to par on those final six holes."
