Gonzaga Women Open Outdoor Season at Whitworth

Zags post several new program top-10 times in opener
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's track team started their 2021 season at the Whitworth Essential meet Friday. It was the first outdoor meet for the Zags since the 2019 season.
Three Bulldogs finished in the top five in the 5,000 meters, led by Liz Hogan's first-place finish. Hogan crossed the line at 17:01.84, the 10th-fastest time in program history. She was followed by Lauren Haas in third at 17:32.50, and Makenna Edwards in fifth at 17:55.13.
In the 1,500 meters, Alicia Anderson was second with a time of 4:35.34, which ranks fifth in GU history. Ally Legard (4:39.67) and Paxton Depoe (4:42.06) were fourth and fifth. Brittany Hansen (4:44.76), Claire Gillett (4:47.44) and Alyssa Bienfang (4:55.43) were seventh, eighth and 10th.
Grace Dalton, Ava Prunier-Herman and Emilee Groth all ran new Top-10 times in the 200 meters. Dalton's time of 27.27 ranks sixth, while Prunier-Herman and Groth finished at 27.76 and 27.80, the eighth-fastest and 10th-fastest time in Gonzaga history.
Prunier-Herman (1:02.04), Groth (1:02.26) and Dalton (1:03.71) had Top-10 finishes in the 400 meters in seventh, eighth and 10th place.
Morgan Greene and Depoe were third and fourth in the 800 meters at 2:18.31 and 2:21.91. Hansen and Emma Flood were sixth and seventh at 2:24.98 and 2:26.10.
Felecia Bazie placed 10th in the 100 meters with a time of 13.62.
Gonzaga returns to Whitworth for its next meet on March 25-26, for the Whitworth Invitational. Live results will be available on GoZags.com.
