Garcia Breaks 5,000-Meter Program Record

Zag junior breaks six-year old record
EUGENE, Ore. – Gonzaga's Kristen Garcia set a new women's 5,000-meter program record at the Northwest Distance Jamboree Saturday.
The junior won the event title with a time of 16:10.72. The previous program record was16:16.88 run by Jessica Mildes in 2015, also in Eugene.
Lauren Haas was eighth (17:33.88), followed by Liz Hogan (17:20.91) and Makenna Edwards (17:24.22) in ninth and 10th.
In the women's 1,500 meters, Ally Legard was third at 4:31.30. Paxton Depoe and Claire Gillett were fourth and sixth with times of 4:33.32 and 4:36.94.
Morgan Greene and Alyssa Bienfang were third and fourth in the 800 meters at 2:16.82 and 2:20.59.
The Bulldogs are in Spokane for their next meet, the CC of Spokane Open, at Spokane Falls Community College on April 10.
