SPOKANE, Wash. – Director of Gonzaga Cross country and Track and Field Pat Tyson announced the signing of Brenden Charbeneau Wednesday.

Charbeneau will join the Zags in 2021-22 as a freshman after a stellar career at Henry Jackson High School. He comes in with a 4:18.55 personal record in the 1,600 meters and 9:08.15 in the 3,200 meters on the track. He placed 14th at the 2019 WIAA State 4A Cross Country Championships.
"I've always enjoyed running, and I've been running cross country and track since eighth grade," Charbeneau said. "In 2019, I led my team to a fifth-place finish at the state cross country meet. I chose Gonzaga because I love Spokane and I love the environment of the campus. Both my parents went to Mead, so I'm very familiar with the city. I'm very excited to begin my college journey at Gonzaga!"
