The Bulldogs return to the Stevens Center next Saturday
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team returned home to take on the University of Idaho and won 6-1 on Saturday evening. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 3-3 overall on the year.
The Zags started off winning the doubles point with victories on court one and court two. Cate Broerman and Adrianna Sosnowska teamed up in the first spot and won 6-4 over Ke Syuan Jhang and Ines Oliveira.
In the second doubles spot, Tiegan Aitken and Kianna Oda competed against Melissa Huchet and Andrea Redondo and won 6-2. Court three was ahead 5-3 before the doubles point was clinched.
Oda won her singles match first on court five against Jayanne Palma. Oda won 6-0, 6-2, to put the Bulldogs up 2-0.
Jenna Sloan came off the court next in the No. 4 spot and defeated Redondo 6-1, 6-1.
In the No. 6 spot, Aitken defeated Nicole Horacek 6-1, 6-1, to clinch the match at 4-0 for Gonzaga.
Court three was the next match done and Frederikke Svarre fell to Jhang, 6-4, 6-4.
On court two, Sosnowska had a battle with Oliveira. In the first set, she won 6-4, and then fell 2-6 in the next. In the tiebreaker for the third set, Sosnowksa came out on top 10-7.
Rounding out competition was Broerman in the No. 1 spot as she won7-6, 6-0 over Huchet.
