
Women's Golf in Eighth Entering Final Round

Duong in a tie for sixth at one-under
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Gonzaga women's golf team is through two rounds at the Grand Canyon Invitational at GCU Championship Golf Course. The two-day tournament consists of 104 golfers from 19 different schools and is hosted by Grand Canyon University. Rounds 1 and 2 will be played on Monday, with the final round concluding on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs are in eighth place at 15-over (591) heading into the final round. In the morning round on Monday, the Zags found themselves at seven-over par near the midway point, but a strong finish kept their team score-to-par at seven-over (295) and in tie for seventh. In the afternoon round, Gonzaga shot eight-over (296) as a team, dropping one spot on the team leaderboard. They combined for 119 pars and 20 birdies on the day.
Quynn Duong is in a tie for sixth place at one-under (143) on the individual leaderboard heading into Tuesday's final round. In her opening round of the tournament, Duong shot two-over (74), making 12 pars and two birdies along the way. Her afternoon round was highlighted with seven birdies and seven pars as she went on to shoot three-under par (69). Her nine birdies are tied for second-most on the individual leaderboard.
Cassie Kim is tied for 23rd through two rounds after combining to shoot three-over (147) on the day. The Yakima native posted a strong first round, shooting one-under (71). After her lone bogey on the par 3 second hole, Kim rattled off sixteen straight holes of par-or-better scores, including two birdies and 14 of her 15 first-round pars. In Round 2, she shot four-over (76), adding 14 more pars to her total of 29, which is tied for the most among the 104 individual golfers.
Chaewon Baek is in a tie for 39th heading into the final round on Tuesday. She turned in scores of four-over (76) and two-over (74) on Monday and will enter Round 3 at six-over (150). Baek combined for the third-most pars (27) of any individual and added two birdies in her first two rounds.
Ivanna Montemayor combined to shoot seven-over (151) on the day and sits in a tie for 44th. She turned a score of two-over (74) in Round 1 and a score of five-over (77) in Round 2, scattering 24 pars and four birdies along the way. Alyssa Nguyen (+12, 156) is in a tie for 69th place after two rounds, posting scores of seven-over (79) and five-over (77).
UC Riverside's Tiffany Le leads all individual golfers at five-under (139). Grand Canyon has three golfers trailing her by just a few strokes. On the team leaderboard, it is Grand Canyon with the five-stroke lead at six-under par (570).
