Zag Women Wrap Up Day One at OSU High Performance Meet

Machu, Donaldson both move up in the 1500M and 3K Steeple All-Time Lists with PR's

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Gonzaga Women's Track opened up Day One at the Oregon State High Performance Meet with two new entries to the record book thanks to PR's from Rosina Machu and Kate Donaldson in the 1500m and steeplechase, respectively.

Alexis Knight and Grace Dalton opened things up in the 200m, with Knight finishing in 27.25s to tie her personal best that ranks No. 10 all-time and Dalton following with a 28.68 finish.

In a busy stretch of 1500m races, Alicia Anderson led the way with a 4:19.49 finish that came just short of her personal best set at NCAA Preliminaries last spring, finishing third in the invite heat ahead of Rosina Machu (sixth, 4:22.41) and Sadie Tuckwood (eighth, 4:23.44). Tuckwood came just short of a fourth consecutive PR after moving up to No. 3 on the all-time 1500m list last week at the Payton Jordan Invitational, but Machu took the No. 3 spot with her new PR.

In other 1500m competition, Lucy Klebeck (4:39.97) and Jillian Greene (4:40.01) finished 10th and 11th in their heat, with Jorun Downing (4:45.40) finishing tenth in the open competition ahead of Tate Beasley (4:54.61), Kate Ferrell (4:56.95) and Elizabeth Brands (4:57.01).

Up next in the 3000M Steeple, Kate Donaldson put down a time that ranks No. 5 all-time with an 11:06.28 finish in her first-ever race in the event, good for second overall.

Brittney Hansen led the way in the invitational section of the 5,000M with a 10th-place 17:01.61 finish, with Makenna Edwards (12th, 17:08.70) and Emily Phelps (16th, 18:12.31) just behind. Edwards' finish was a new personal best. In the open competition, Georgi Brady finished ninth overall in her first 5,000M race, crossing the finish line in 18:13.46.

Caramia Mestler closed things out with an event win in the 10,000M race, finishing in 34:15.89 to outpace second-place finisher Kaitlyn Peale by more than 15 seconds.
