CORVALLIS, Ore. – Alicia Anderson broke the program record in the 800M and four other Zags recorded personal bests on Gonzaga Women's Track's second day of competition at the Oregon State High Performance Meet on Saturday.
Anderson's 2:10.38 finish is nearly a second faster than the previous program record (2:11.27), set by Lindsey Drake in 2013. Anderson currently holds the second-fastest 1500M time (04:18.53) and fourth-fastest 5,000M time (16:15.23) in program history, and qualified in both events for NCAA Prelims last spring.
Alexis Knight and
Grace Dalton opened things up for GU in the 100M dash, placing 31st and 40th with 0:12.94 and 0:13.78 times, respectively.
Anderson's record-breaking PR led four other Zags that recorded new best and two others who put down their fastest times of the season in the 800M – the junior finished sixth overall ahead of
Alyssa Bienfang (22nd, 2:15.37),
Lucy Klebeck (30th, 2:16.91),
Brittney Hansen (31st, 2:17.08),
Elizabeth Brands (39th, 2:19.58),
Tate Beasley (54th, 2:22.88),
Leighton Joy (55th, 2:22.98),
Kate Ferrell (58th, 2:23.72),
Karina Smith (69th, 2:25.67),
Taylor Biondi (72nd, 2:26.51) and Paxton DePoe (80th, 2:27.80). Klebeck, Hansen, Beasley and Ferrell all recorded new PR's, and Bienfang and Brands' times were season-bests.
