SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's cross country/track has named McKenna Lee-Hansen as a Graduate Assistant. She will join Head Coach Jake Stewart for the next two years as she completes a master's degree in Organizational Leadership.
"We're incredibly excited for McKenna to be joining our program," Stewart said. "She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, talent, and experience competing and operating in a highly competitive program. Her addition to the staff will have a great impact on our group of women now and moving forward."
Prior to Gonzaga, Lee-Hansen earned a bachelor's degree in Strategic Business Management with a minor in Family Studies at BYU. During her collegiate career, the North Ogden native was a part of a National Champion Cross Country Team in 2020 and a National Runner-Up Cross Country Team in 2021. During the 2022-23 Indoor Track season, Lee-Hansen recorded a top-20 5k time of 15:45, a mark which currently ranks fourth all-time at BYU.
"I'm super excited to be working under Coach Stewart. He is a great coach and a great person, and I have a lot to learn from him," Lee-Hansen said. "He has created an amazing team culture, and I am thrilled to be a part of this program, and to start my coaching with someone who is willing to let me gain real experience and see this sport from a whole new perspective."
Now residing in Spokane, Lee-Hansen is married to her husband, Blake, who is attending medical school at the UW Spokane Campus.
