Sophomore ties 54-hole program record total at 205
FRESNO, Calif.– Guillermo Polo Bodart led Gonzaga men's golf with an 11th place finish at the Nick Watney Invitational at the Fort Washington Country Club.
Bodart tied for 11th at eight-under (205). The 54-hole 205 total matches David Ganz's program record set at the 2018 Loyola Intercollegiate. The Bulldogs totaled an 848 (-4) at the Nick Watney Invitational, which ranks fourth in program history, and the lowest 54-hole team total since setting the record of 836 at the 2018 Loyola Intercollegiate.
The Zags' second round 274 (-10) matched the program's 18-hole team total record set in Loyola Intercollegiate in 2018 and the 2014 Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic.
Bodart finished with a 72 (+1) to open the tournament in the first round, before firing a 65 (-6) in Round 2. The sophomore made six birdies and 12 pars in a bogey-free second round. He was three-under (68) in the final round with four birdies and 13 pars. The Argentinian made 15 pars in Round 3. His 40 pars in the tournament were the most in the 83-golfer field.
Gonzaga placed 11th as a team at four-under. The Zags were one-over (285) after the first round, before that record-tying second round of 274. GU finished the event with a 289 (+5) in the third round. The Bulldogs made the most pars in the tournament with 184.
Daniel Nunez tied for 28th at two-under (211). He was in the mix after Day 1 with a 69 (-2) in the first round and a 67 (-4) in the second round. The senior totaled nine birdies and 24 pars through the first two rounds. He was four-over (75) in the final round.
Jace Minni had back-to-back rounds of 70 (-1) on the first day, before a three-over (74) third round Tuesday. He would tie for 39th.
Bruce Chang and Ethan Flynn finished in 62nd and 70th. Chang was eight-over (221), while Flynn was 12-over (225). Playing as an individual, Andrew Reinhardt placed 75th at 15-over (228).
Connor Reis led Saint Mary's to the team title, claiming medalist honors at 18-under (195). The Gaels were 36-under (816) as a team. CSU Fullerton was second at 32-under (820).
