Safien Boulonois Joins Women's Tennis

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Head coach Natalie Pluskota-Hamberg announced the addition of Safien Boulonios to the Gonzaga women's tennis team. Safien comes to GU from a tennis family in the Netherlands where she has been playing tennis at a competitive level since age 12. As she gained tennis experience, Safien has started to play more exclusively on the International Junior Circuit.

ITF J30 Singles semi-finalist - 2023 Netherlands
ITF J30 Singles runner-up - 2023 Belgium
ITF J30 Double Champion - 2023 Dublin, Ireland
ITF J30 Double Champion - 2023 Hilversum, Netherlands
ITF J60 Double Champion - 2023 Hannover, Germany
NRT Champion – 2023
 
Coach Pluskota-Hamberg notes that Safien's official visit was an instant connection for all partied involved.

"Safien's competitive spirit and ability to consistently progress her tennis game throughout her junior career has us as coaches excited for when she joins our program," Pluskota-Hamberg said. "We are excited to watch her continue to grow here at GU as she brings her strong work ethic to Gonzaga."
 
When asked about her commitment to Gonzaga, Safien said, "I am excited and grateful to be part of the Zag tennis team! I am looking forward to beginning this adventure at Gonzaga where tennis and academics are combined at a high level. I can't wait to work with the coaches, Natalie and Caitlyn and the team. They were all super welcoming and dedicated during my visit. Go Zags!!"
