Women’s Rowing Competes at Head of the Spokane

The Zags race next at the Head of the Lake

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's rowing team kicked off the fall schedule today with first-place boats in two out of five heats at the Head of the Spokane.

With a time of 19:36, the Novice 8 boat cruised to victory over WSU (20:07). In the collegiate fours, the Zags had two boats — 4+ B (19:14) and 4+ A (19:33) — pass the finish line ahead of the challengers, with the next closest being WSU's 4+ A boat (19:47).

Gonzaga's Varsity 8 boat claimed second place in 16:27, only two seconds behind OSU. Competing in the same flight were the 2V8 (seventh place), 3V8 (eighth), and 4V8 (11th). In the other collegiate eights heat, the 4V/5V finished in third place, ahead of a WSU boat.

There were 26 boats in the collegiate pairs flight, with Bulldog duos taking third (2-B), fifth (2-A), ninth (2-D), and 18th (2-C).
