WASHINGTON, Utah – Gonzaga women's golfer
Carys Baek took medalist honors at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invite Tuesday.
Baek finished at three-over (219) and won a tiebreaker over CSU-Northridge's Meghan Paracuelles for the individual title. Baek carded a 75 (+3) in the final round after a 71 (-1) and 73 (+1) in the first and second rounds.
Baek's final round featured 15 pars and she led the 45-golfer field with 41 pars in the tournament. She second in the event finishing one-under (2.92) on the course's Par-3 holes, and fourth on the course's Par-4 holes at three-over (4.10). It was her first collegiate first-place finish, and third Top-5 finish.
The Bulldogs tied for third as a team at 50-over (914). GU was in first place after totaling a 296 (+8) in the first round. The Zags were 21-over (309) in both the second and third rounds. Gonzaga made a tournament-best 172 pars in the event.
Esther Yoo placed 12
th at 13-over (229). The freshman was four-over (76) in Round 3, with 14 pars. She opened the event with a 74 (+2) in the first round and then was seven-over (79) on Day 2.
Grace Lee was close behind in 15
th at 16-over (232).
Darby Rickel tied for 25
th at 20-over (236).
Vanessa Zhang (+21, 237) tied for 27
th, while
Taylor Mularski (+29, 245) was 38
th as an individual.
Utah Valley took the team title at 39-over (903). The Wolverines carded a 294 (+6) in the second round, which was the lowest round total in the tournament. CSU-Northridge was second at 46-over (910).
Gonzaga is at the Causeway Invitational hosted by UC Davis on Feb. 26-27. The tournament will be played at the Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, Calif. Live stats will be available on GoZags.com.
