GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Gonzaga men's golfer
Guillermo Polo Bodart tied for 13
th at the Loyola Intercollegiate at the Palm Valley Golf Club Tuesday.
Bodart was six-under (210) in the three-day event. He closed the tournament with a two-under (70) final round, which featured four birdies and 12 pars. The sophomore carded a 67 (-5) in Round 2, after a 73 (+1) on the first day. He eagled the Par-5 11
th hole, made four birdies, and 12 pars in the second round. Bodart was four-under (3.87) on the course's Par-4 holes.
As a team, Gonzaga tied for eighth at seven-under (857). The Zags climbed five spots in the final round after totaling their lowest round of the tournament 282 (-6). GU improved each day after a 290 (+2) in Round 1 and a 285 (-3) in Round 2. The Bulldogs were second in the 20-team field on the course's Par-4 holes at one-over (4.01).
Jace Minni tied for 26
th at three-under (213). He moved up 48 spots on the leaderboard after carding a 66 (-6) in the final round. The Delta, B.C., native, made five birdies and eagled in the 11
th hole in Round 3.
Andrew Reinhardt played as an individual and tied for 33
rd at two-under (214). He opened the tournament with a 69 (-3), before rounds of 70 (-2) and 75 (+3).
Ethan Flynn tied for 66
th at three-over (219), while
Daniel Nunez (+8, 224) and Bruce Chang (+9, 225) tied for 96
th.
North Dakota State's Jake Skarperud rose four spots on the final day and took medalist honors at 14-under (202). He led the Bison to the team title as NDSU was 40-under (824). Northern Colorado and the hosts Loyola Maryland were tied for second at 25-under (839).
