Incoming Zag claims impressive titles recently
SPOKANE, Wash. – Incoming Gonzaga women's golf freshman Jasmine Wong recently won a pair of impressive titles. She placed first at Hawaii's state high school championship and then became the state's amateur match-play champion.
Wong will join the Zags after a stretch of winning the Interscholastic League of Honolulu individual championship by 11 strokes, then becoming Iolani School's first individual girls state champion in May, followed by winning the Manoa Cup, which is given to the state's amateur match-play champion.
Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel announced the signing of Wong in November, and since then she was named First Team ILH again, and the conference's Golfer of the Year.
After winning the girls' state title for the first time in the school's history, Wong defeated Rachael Wang, 3 and 1, for the Manoa Cup women's championship at Oahu Country Club. Wang will be a junior at Santa Clara in 2024-25.
