Julia Camillucci Joins Women’s Rowing

She was a former rower at USD and SDSU

SPOKANE, Wash. – Women's rowing head coach Andrew Derrick has announced Julia Camillucci as an assistant coach.

"I am excited to welcome Julia," Derrick said. "We had a great candidate pool, but her excitement over the trajectory our program was clear from our first interactions. I know our student-athletes are going to love working with her and she is going to impart that energy onto them and into their training.  She is a great fit for this role, and we are all looking forward to working with her as she brings her strengths and experience to being a Zag!"

Camillucci was a student-athlete at San Diego State and University of San Diego prior to working at the Texas Rowing Center. After her time as a rower, she was a Graduate Assistant to the Associate Executive Athletic Director at San Diego State University before moving on to Texas Rowing Center.

At the Texas Rowing Center, she managed a team of 25 high school athletes and prepared them to race while making it an easy transition to the varsity level. She was also an advanced master's women assistant coach, where she coached 25 women aged 60 years or older. The group had all experience levels and she coached them to take the all points trophy at the master's national championships.

During her time as a student-athlete at SDSU and USD, she was a U23 National Team Selection camp attendee and an WCC and AAC All-Academic Team along with a CRCA Scholar-Athlete.

"From the start, I could tell Gonzaga Athletics is a people first athletic department and I can wait to be a part of an environment that not only produces high level athletes, but even higher-level people," Camillucci said. "I can wait to be part of the Gonzaga family and do what I can to support in any way."
