Zag junior earns honor for first time in career
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Gonzaga's Grace Lee was named the West Coast Conference Heluva Good Dip Women's Golfer of the Month for March.
Lee had three Top-10 finishes in three events in the month, highlighted by a first-place finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on March 26. She took medalist honors at the 39th annual event in Hawaii. She finished third at the USF Invitational and seventh at the Tulane Classic.
In her win at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, the junior finished 11-under (205) in the event. Her second round 66 (-6) matched the third-lowest round in program history. Her 205 tournament total is the second-lowest all-time at GU, only behind her own school record of 200 at the 2023 Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational.
Lee was a tournament-best six-under (3.80) on the course's Par-4 holes, second on Par-5 holes at seven-under (4.42), and was sixth in the 98-golfer field making 12 birdies. Her second round featured eight birdies and eight pars. She was three-under (69) in Round 1, eagling the course's Par-5 seventh hole. Lee carded a 70 (-2) in a bogey-free final round, with two birdies and 15 pars.
Her average round for the month was 71.67, while her season average is a team-best 72.65. Six of her nine rounds in the month were below or par.
It was the first WCC Golfer of the Month honor for the Bellevue, Wash., native in her career.
