Women’s Rowing Welcomes Brooke Thompson as Assistant Coach

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's rowing has added Brooke Thompson to its coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 season.
 
"I couldn't be happier to bring Brooke onboard to round out our staff," head coach Mark Voorhees said. "Through the interview process she stood out as a tremendous comprehensive fit for Gonzaga and our program. I'm looking forward to seeing her learn and grow as she makes the transition from student-athlete to coach and to see the impact she can make on our team. It's great to have her as a Zag."
 
Thompson joins the Bulldogs after a decorated rowing career at Tufts University, where she was a key contributor to the Jumbos' recent national success. Competing as a student-athlete from 2021 to 2025. Her commitment and leadership helped Tufts capture consecutive NESCAC and NCAA Division III National Championships in 2024 and 2025. She was also recognized by the conference with a spot on the 2025 NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team, underscoring her reputation for dedication, respect, and teamwork.
 
In addition to her collegiate accomplishments, Thompson has hands-on coaching experience with Olentangy Rowing in Columbus, Ohio, where she worked with middle and high school students in the Learn-to-Row program. There, she taught technical fundamentals, built athlete confidence, and created structured development plans tailored to individual progress. Her early coaching experience highlighted her ability to connect with athletes and nurture a positive team culture, qualities that align with Gonzaga's commitment to holistic student-athlete development.
 
A native of Westerville, Ohio, Thompson has also been committed to service work. She has volunteered with Miracle League in Columbus, helping children with disabilities experience the joy of baseball, and participated in a cultural immersion program in Guatemala, teaching English in a remote community.
