
Women's Tennis Completes First Day of Duck Invitational

Play Will Continue Tomorrow Against Washington State and Oregon
EUGENE, Ore. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team finished the first day of the Duck Invitational this afternoon after adding it last-minute to their schedule. The event features Oregon, Washington State, Portland, and Gonzaga.
In singles play, all against Washington State, Gonzaga's lone win came from Sveva Zerpelloni, who defeated Gabriella Harper in a lengthy 7-6(5), 6-7(9), 10-8 match. Karla Brown also competed in a three-set match against Ava Sycamore, ultimately falling 6-4, 4-6, 10-4. Aisulu Zholbolat fell 6-4, 6-1 to Chisato Kanemaki, while Elizabeth Tindera retired from her match against Yura Nakagawa during the second set, with Nakagawa leading 6-4, 1-3.
The Bulldogs had four doubles competitions, splitting the results. Tindera and Zholbolat won their matchup against Portland's Maria Galatescu and Emily Velasco, 6-1. Portland's Nadine Arbaizar Martinez and Lexie Flores defeated Brown and Zerpelloni, 6-2. Against Oregon, Brown and Zerpelloni defeated Hadley Appling and Montserrat Baruqui, 6-3. Tilde Jagare and Juliet Santitto then defeated Tindera and Zholbolat, 6-4.
The Zags will continue play tomorrow with doubles matches against Washington State and singles against Oregon.
