SPOKANE, Wash. -- Making their return to the Steven's Center, the Gonzaga women's tennis team took on Loyola Marymount. The Zags closed out a tight match and ended up falling 4-3.
Back in pairs is Gonzaga's duo Emily Robertson and Ella Nielsen who swept court two with a 6-2 victory. The Zags came up short in the doubles point with Rose Hayes and Sveva Zerpelloni battling in their set but coming up short, 6-3. And Elizabeth Tindera and Diana Yanotovskaya being defeated 6-4.Â
As for singles, junior Emily Robertson swept court one against LMU's Lidia Gonzalez, 6-2 and 6-1.Â
Madeleine MacNeille came up short against her opponent Sofia Perovani, 6-2 and 6-1. Senior Diana Yanotovskaya fought hard on court two but was defeated 6-4Â and 6-2.
Elizabeth Tindera gained another point for the Zags, Tindera lost her first set 4-6 before taking the next sets 6-3 and 6-4. Rose Hayes came through and took another point for the Zags, 6-7, 6-0 and 6-2. Sveva Zerpelloni battled in three sets taking the first 6-, before falling to Helene Schnack 6-4 in the last two sets.Â
The Zags will be traveling down to California to take on Pacific. The match is Saturday the 28th and will begin at 10am.Â
