SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Gonzaga men's rowing wrapped up the second day of the San Diego Crew Classic with strong showings in all three events, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the Varsity 8+, a podium finish in the Second Varsity 8+, and a victory in the Third Varsity 8+ final.

"We had a strong showing across the board," assistant coach Kayla Cartelli said. "We finished top three in all three events with the 3V8+ winning their final for the second year in a row. We are excited to continue to build on this solid foundation moving through the rest of the season."

The Varsity 8+ opened the morning in the Men's Collegiate Varsity 8+ Active&Fit Cal Cup Final A and delivered one of the top performances of the regatta, racing to second place in 6:25.400. The Bulldogs held their position throughout the course, finishing behind California and ahead of UC San Diego, Orange Coast, San Diego, Marietta, Embry-Riddle, and UCLA.

Gonzaga's Second Varsity 8+ followed with a strong third-place finish in the Bill Weber Men's Collegiate 2V Memorial Cup Final. The Zags crossed in 6:44.240, placing behind San Diego and UC San Diego while outperforming Orange Coast, Marietta, UCLA, UC Davis, and UC Santa Barbara.

The Bulldogs closed the morning with their top result of the day, winning the Men's Collegiate 3V 8+ Final in 6:50.217. Gonzaga led from early in the race and held off UC San Diego and San Diego to secure the event victory.
