Gonzaga men's rowing delivered a victory in the Varsity 8+ that marked the program's first win over Oregon State in the event since 2013. OSU was ranked No. 22 nationally coming into the race.
The Bulldogs set the tone in the marquee Varsity 8+ race, where Gonzaga clocked a winning time of 5:54.63, edging Oregon State's 5:57.70 performance to secure the victory over a nationally ranked opponent.
"This is a boat that is rooted in substance, and as we near the end of racing season we are starting to see our boat gain confidence and momentum. This is just another checkpoint for us, and we are excited to test out speed again next week at WIRAs," senior Toby Finn said.
In the Second Varsity 8+, Oregon State responded with a narrow win in 6:02.31, while Gonzaga finished in 6:06.27, staying within striking distance throughout the race.
