SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Gonzaga women's rowing team completed a full day of racing Saturday at the Big Ten Invitational on Lake Natoma, competing against a loaded field that featured several of the nation's top programs across both morning and afternoon sessions.

The Bulldogs were highlighted by their Varsity 8+, which opened the day with a time of 6:49.492 to finish fifth in a deep morning heat featuring Stanford, Michigan and USC. Gonzaga returned to the water in the afternoon and improved its standing against a new field, placing fourth with a time of 6:37.515 in a tightly contested race with Ohio State, Minnesota and Sacramento State.

Gonzaga's Second Varsity 8+ also showed improvement in the afternoon session. After finishing fifth in the morning (6:46.833), the Zags climbed to a second-place finish in the evening race, posting a time of 6:43.679 to finish just behind Ohio State and ahead of Minnesota and Sacramento State.

In the fours, Gonzaga's Second Varsity 4+ continued its strong day. After placing third in the morning session (7:36.675), the Bulldogs moved up to second in the afternoon with a time of 7:29.497, closing the gap on Ohio State. The Varsity 4+ rounded out the day with a fourth-place finish in both sessions, recording a 7:30.343 in the morning and a 9:34.297 in the afternoon.

Across all boats, Gonzaga gained valuable experience competing against top-tier programs, showing progression throughout the day with improved finishes in multiple events during the evening session.

The Big Ten Invitational continues Sunday morning as the Bulldogs wrap up competition at Lake Natoma.
